Fasting For Longevity

We’re living in a remarkable era of metabolic health discoveries. Science confirms that fasting is a powerful tool that heals on multiple levels, with numerous studies showing it’s safe for most healthy adults when practiced properly.

Did you know we have TWO metabolic systems? We have a glucose-burning system and a fat-burning ketogenic system. The only way to activate the fat- burning system is through fasting.

Here’s how it works: Our primary metabolism uses food, converting glucose into energy with insulin. Our second metabolism—the ketogenic system—activates when we fast. This system burns stored fat and produces ketones. Our bodies store excess glucose as fat, and fasting allows us to tap into these reserves. We live in a time of increased metabolic disease because we have forgotten HOW to flip this switch and tap into the ketogenic system.

I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes last year after watching my biomarkers annually decline. Despite maintaining healthy habits eighty percent of the time, my family history of Type-2 Diabetes meant the other twenty percent of poor choices were pushing me toward disease.
